Sheikh Ja'afar: Okiro gives Shekarau clean
bill... Emirate council too

The Nigeria Police Force has refuted allegations of
involvement of the governor of Kano state, Malam (Dr.)
Ibrahim Shekarau and Emir of Kano, Alhaji (Dr.) Ado
Bayero in the murder of Sheikh Ja’afar Mahmud Adam who
was attacked and killed by unknown assailants while
leading morning (Subhi) prayer at Dorayi Juma’at Mosque,
Kano on the 13th of April, 2007.
The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro, who
revealed this while briefing newsmen in Abuja on the
state of security in Kano state yesterday, explained
that there is no iota of evidence of the involvement of
the governor of Kano state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau and
the Kano Emirate Council in the killing of Sheikh
Ja’afar.

New FRSC boss doffs hat for
KNSG

NORTHERN governors have been urged to emulate Kano state
government by executing developmental projects.
The appeal was made by the newly appointed chairman of
the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Colonel Lawal
Gwadabe (rtd) when he paid a courtesy call on Kano state
deputy governor, Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo
in his office yesterday.
Colonel Gwadabe commended Kano state government for
creating eight centres for free medical treatment for
the victims of road accidents and recent road
rehabilitation exercise.
The FRSC boss however, expressed dismay on the fact that
despite efforts to reduce road accidents, the situation
still persists alarmingly.

JGSG earmarks N5bn for social projects

The Jigawa State Executive Council on Wednesday during
its regular meeting, approved the release of about N5
billion for various development projects such as water
supply, road construction, purchase of drugs, computers
and renovation of classrooms.
This was made known by the state commissioner for
information, youth, sports and culture, Alhaji
Aminu Muhammad Gumel while briefing newsmen on the
outcome of the meeting at Government House, Dutse.
He said, out of the this amount, the sum of N2.9 billion
has been approved to the state Universal Basic Education
Board for the renovation of a total of 400 primary
schools across the state.

Laying artificial turf: KNSG gets kudos

HUNDREDS of soccer fans in Kano state have commended the
state government for their commitment towards making
Sani Abacha and Kano Pillars stadia up to FIFA standard.
Some of them who spoke with Daily Triumph Sports on the
current laying of artificial turf at Sani Abacha Stadium
yesterday, expressed satisfaction with the level of work
going on at the stadium.
Alhaji Ado Musa Hungu, a Kano Pillars fans club member,
said that the present administration of Malam (Dr.)
Ibrahim Shekarau deserves commendation in this gigantic
project.
