Agitators for Yar’adua’s resignation urge rethink
By MUHAMMAD HAMISU ABDULLAHI
THOSE calling on President Umaru Musa Yar’adua to resign his position as president because of his ill-health should rethink in this direction.
Handing down the advice in Kano while speaking to Daily Triumph recently, a businessman based in Kano, Alhaji Lawan Nasiru said those who believe in God know that illness can befall anybody.
He described the action of those callers of President Yar’adua to resign as unfortunate and unwanted at present because evidences from the President and the country’s constitution show that he can still rule from his sick bay.
Alhaji Nasiru said as they wish the president quick recovery and return to office to continue with his leadership, such calls for his resignation were not in order, reiterating that the president should not resign because of his illness.
‘’We wish him, (the president) quick recovery. I believe his leadership or administration cannot be compared with those of his predecessors. It is far better than all the previous administrations in totality,’’ he said.
‘’If the President wants to recontest after finishing his first tenure, we will support and cast our votes for him. I believe his economic policy is a good one for the survival of the country,’’ Alhaji Nasiru further stated.
He lamented the previous administrations whoaccording to him , had bastardized our currency to an extent that the Naira was devalued to a great disadvantage, stressing that with the Seven-Point Agenda of President Yar’adua ,good things were initiated to take care of all the predicaments of Nigerains, as far as economy is concerned.
He said the President thought it wise to come up with the agenda to alleviate the sufferings of the masses, believing that if this goal would be achieved, all Nigerians could enjoy and laugh.
According to him, the president only needs prayers from Nigerians for his health’s improvement, explaining that Yar’adua is the type of President Nigeria needs at present for it development.
He recalled that the president ruled Katsina state in almost the same condition and performed well in the state, believing that when he returns, Nigeria will be a better place for all, adding Yar’adua really was the choice of God for Nigerians.
