Anambra guber polls: A/Ibom command mobilises 1000 men
The Akwa Ibom Police Command has mobilised 1,000 conventional policemen and a unit of Mobile Police Force for the Saturday, February 6, Anambra gubernatorial election.
The Police Commissioner, Mr Walter Rugbere, made this known in Uyo yesterday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Rugbere, who expressed the hope for a successful polls in Anambra, said that the police were well equipped to maintain law and order before, during and after the election.
He said that as at 3.15 p. m. on Wednesday, more than 15 vehicles including police trucks and luxurious buses conveying the personnel left Uyo for Anambra.
The police commissioner said that the contingent from Akwa Ibom would be part of the total pool of security operatives expected in Anambra State for the election.
Meanwhile, a Social Critic and Political Scientist, Dr Ekeng Anam-Ndu, has advised INEC to be cautious and ensure the conduct of a free and fair election in Anambra.
Anam-Ndu said in an interview in Uyo that the future of that state depended on INEC.
He also called on all the 25 candidates to rally round whoever wins to ensure the success of the Anambra governorship election.
