Anambra election: PDP congratulates Soludo, Obi
Chief Vincent Ogbulafor, the National Chairman of the PDP, yesterday congratulated Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for his strong showing in last Saturday’s gubernatorial poll in Anambra.
The PDP national chairman saluted Soludo on behalf of the national working committee of the party.
Soludo, ex-governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was PDP's flagbearer in the election. He placed third.
In a statement in Abuja, Prof. Rufai Alkali, the national publicity scribe of the PDP, quoted Ogbuluafor as saying that Soludo conducted a clean and issue-based campaign.
Accoding to him, Soludo also displayed a sportsmanship spirit in the aftermath of the election.
The statement said that Soludo’s conduct, before, during and after the election; as well as his acceptance of the results in spite of imperfections, were exemplary.
According to Ogbuluafor, his (Soludo’s) pledge to cooperate with the declared winner -- Dr Peter Obi -- ``are the qualities we recommend for all politicians, as we move forward to advance the cause of democracy in Nigeria.
``By this heroic act and his resolve to spare the people of Anambra state the trauma of endless litigations, he has set a shinning example of the quality of politics we practice in the PDP. We wish him well in all his future endeavours.
