I’m best guber candidate -Shagari
Alhaji Mukhtari Shagari, PDP gubernatorial candidate in Sokoto
state, says he is the "most qualified" person to occupy the
state's government house in May 2007.
"If you take achievements into consideration, none of the
gubernatorial candidates in the state will match me," he added.
Shagari, who was addressing newsmen in Sokoto on Saturday, added
that, in politics, however, everybody should be allowed to
exercise his fundamental human rights.
"Politics is not made by mouth. You know a good politician when
the votes are cast," the former water resources minister,
maintained
Shagari took exception to how some "cynics" are referring to him
as "crafty and articulate," saying that, he never deceives
people.
He explained:"But the truth of the matter is that, I am an
achiever. That was why president Obasanjo recently rewarded me
with the National Honours Award of C.F.R."
He said that, 2007 was going to be a "very interesting one'' in
Sokoto state, adding,"I believe that, there will be another
landslide."
While blaming the people of Sokoto state for their current
"woes", Shagari however admitted that, the people had now become
more politically vibrant.
According to him, the PDP has been made more united and stronger
after the primaries, and has since been perfecting strategies to
wrest power from the ANPP current government in 2007."
"We will transform the civil service into a world class one. It
will be made more vibrant.
``I want to be the best governor, ever in Nigeria," he said.
