Osun govt pays N2.5b pensions, gratuity
Osun government has paid a total of N2.5 billion in 2006 as gratuity and pension to all retirees in the state.
The head of service, Mr Segun Akinwusi told newsmen at the weekend in his office, that the government decided to settle all the outstanding gratuity of retired civil servants.
The gratuity arrears included those for secondary school teachers, inherited from the immediate past administration.
Akinwusi also disclosed that the state government had complied with the directives of the federal government on the retirement benefits of the primary school teachers.
The head of service said the state government had last year paid N5.9 million to the next of kin of deceased public servants who died on active service.
He added that Osun had embraced the e-Government in its public service delivery, explaining that the entire government machinery would be linked to the ICT system.
According to Akinwusi, government has spent a lot of money to provide a highly reliable Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) and Local Area Network (LAN), using Very Small Aparture Terminal (VSAT).
