...As ex-Bichi council boss urges for special prayers

NIGERIANS have again been called upon to offer special prayers for the country’s democratic transition.
Making the appeal in an exclusive interview, with Daily Triumph in Kano, the former chairman of Bichi local government council of Kano state, Alhaji Lawan Shehu said God’s intervention is needed as the nation is forging ahead to election in 2007.
He enjoined the Muslim Ummah across the country to be patriotic and always offer prayers for the unity of the country.
The former council boss observed that the democratic process we are experiencing is facing a set back in terms of implementation especially the ongoing voter registration exercise.
Alhaji Shehu urged Muslims to always fear God and warned youths against acts of thuggery and violence.
Commenting on the ANPP presidential candidate, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, Bichi, local government chairman, described him as the best, God fearing, honest whom according to him, needed the support of all and the citizens sundry, in the country.
He expressed the optimism that the general will capture the presidency in 2007.
On Governor Shekarau’s continuity, the Bichi council chairman, said the governor need to be given chance again another chance considering his achievements in the execution of laudable projects of which made a considerable impact on the lives of the people of the state.
Alhaji Shehu explained that Kano people during the administration of Shekarau have witnessed peace and stability.
The former council chairman also called on the people of Kano state to support governor Shekarau and ensure his victory in 2007.
