Gen. Agwai charges parents on
youths development
The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Martin-Luther Agwai has charged
parents to train the youth to be productive not only to their
immediate environment, but to the country at large.
He gave the advice on Monday at Kagoro, Kaura local Government
Area, OF Kaduna State, during the 2007 New Year celebration
popularly known as Asan National Festival of the Kagoro
community.
Describing youths as the life wire of any human society, Agwai
said that the socio-economic and political life of any given
society would be at stake without a productive youth.
The Chief of Defence Staff appealed to all members of the
community to support the peaceful atmosphere already existing in
the country toward a national development.
Governor Ahmad Makarfi of Kaduna, in an address at the occasion,
announced that his administration had approved the construction
of dams for irrigation purposes in each local government area of
the state.
Makarfi who was represented by his deputy, Mr Patrick Yakowa,
called on farmers to exploit the opportunity to improve their
yield for higher revenue base.
He urged politicians to conduct themselves during the
electioneering, and that they should accept the outcome as an
act of God, ``who gives power to whom he pleases."
The Chief of Kagoro, Malam Gwamna Awan, in a welcome address,
urged the Kaduna government to fulfil its promise to construct
more roads in the town.
He called on politicians to exhibit tolerance, understanding,
respect for peace, unity and integrity in their quest for
elective offices. |
