KNSG urged to declare Bagauda tourism zone
By HASSAN MUSA K/MATA

KANO state government has been called upon to declare Bagauda as a tourism promotion zone with a view to projecting to the world Kano’s tourism potentials.
The director-general, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism studies (NIHTOURS), Abuja, Alhaji Munzali Dantata made the call during a reception organized by the state government in his honour over his appointment, which was held at Chinese Restaurant, Bompai, Kano, Monday.
He noted that Kano is endowed with rich culture and tourism potentials which if properly harnessed could serve as huge revenue earner.
Alhaji Dantata cited the examples of Yankari Game Reserve in Bauchi and Tinapa Tourism site in Cross river state which have now become world class tourism attraction centres.
The director-general further noted that Kano has all it takes to harness such potentials that could not only serve as tourism attraction but also woo investors to the state.
He said the federal government is ready to develop all necessary infrastructural facilities like roads and electricity in such sites and therefore called on the state government to work toward making the tourism zone a reality.
Alhaji Munzali however, commended the state government for establishing a separate ministry for transport and tourism.
Earlier, the state commissioner of transport and tourism, Alhaji Alhassan Muhammad Dawaki had said that the state government places much emphasis on the tourism sub-sector which informs the establishment of the tourism ministry.
He then congratulated the new director-general and charged him to continue to be a good ambassador of Kano state.
