JIGAWA state deputy governor, Barrister Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia,
has faulted Governor Ibrahim Saminu Turaki’s political
appointments saying unqualified people were appointed to man
ministries and parastatals in favour of experienced politicians.
Barrister Hassan disclosed this in an interview with Daily
Triumph correspondent at Kazaure Emir’s Palace when he paid
Sallah visit to Emir Najib Hussein Adamu.
He said the administration of Saminu Turaki has initiated a
number of developmental programmes to improve the standard of
Jigawa state at large, however, he believed that the selfishness
and politics of appointments in the state have combined to
cripple the progress of the state during the governor’s tenure.
Barrister Hadejia therefore promised to come up with a listening
government that will run an open door policy thereby giving the
people the chance to contribute their quota to the running of
the administration with honesty, transparency and justice if
given the mandate.
According to him, the administration of Governor Turaki has set
aside huge sum of money meant for development projects in the
state but failed in executing the programmes because it has
appointed unqualified persons who are only concerned with their
selfish interest or political interest to the detriment of the
interest of millions of the electorate.
Barrister Hadejia further pledged that if elected as governor,
his administration will separate government’s administration
with politics to enable the state correct its developmental
failure, adding that his administration will look into suitable
areas for politicians to contribute their quota, while qualified
persons are allowed to run the administration of the state.
The deputy governor however called on the people of the state to
turn out enmass and renew their voter’s card and ensure they
monitor the election.
He condemned the habit of some politicians in the country of
providing hard drugs to party thugs, adding his campaign
organization will not give room to such unbecomings acts.
On the rumour that the national headquarters of the ANPP has
disqualified him, the deputy governor described it as the work
of saboteurs from the opposition, insisting that the party
headquarters had already submitted his name to INEC as Jigawa
state ANPP governorship candidate.
He explained that the INEC has given 15th January ultimatum to
all political parties to submit their candidate and his name has
been forwarded urging the people to remain calm and wait for the
national headquarters’ final decision.
Barrister Hadejia added that the problem of petitions from
aspirants is everywhere in the political parties across the
country, especially in Imo state where about 26 people have
filed their petitions with only a single person to emerge.
