DPP gubernatorial aspirant charges religious leaders

The gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) in Kaduna state, General Thorddeours Likita Ashei has charged the religious leaders both Christians and Muslims in the state, to pray for smooth 2007 general elections.
General Ashei (rtd) made the call in a Christmas, Sallah and New Year massages in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna.
He said looking at how the political situation is going on now in the country, prayer is the only alternative to save the situation in which we found ourselves.
He added that the period of Christmas and Sallah, is the best for prayers because believers are nearer to God Almighty, while religious leaders should lead the followers to conduct such prayers.
He congratulated both the Christians and Muslims in the state and Nigeria at large, for the Christmas and Sallah celebrations and New Year, and pray for the successful celebrations.
Commenting on his desire to become the governor of Kaduna state under the flatform of the Democratic People’s Party (DPP), he said if the good people of the state elect him during the general elections he will unveil his blue print for the State which will take it to greater heights.
According to him, he said security maintenance, education, agriculture, water supply, and health would be his top priority if elected into office.
On the areas of education, he said from primary to secondary levels, the children would enjoy free and qualitative education while those in the higher institutions would get special treatment.
For the farmers in the state, the Gubernatorial candidate for the DPP assured them that they will enjoy subsidy in all agricultural inputs, such as tractors, fertilizers, insecticides, good seeds and so on.
He also assured the people of the state, especially areas where they lack portable drinking water that, he has a good plan to overcome such problems adding that he is going to invite professionals from home and abroad to study the whole situation and find a lasting solution to it.
He then urged all the good people of Kaduna state to vote for him come 2007 general elections so as to be able to deliver the goods.
