F/Eagles: Toro advices Uwua
Former Nigeria Football Association (NFA) secretary-general Sanni Toro has given his sincere advice to the Flying Eagles crew headed by Godwin Uwua, ahead of their participation in next year's African Youth Championship (AYC).
Toro told Nigeriansportsonline.com that for the Junior Eagles to do well the technical crew should make sure they pick players devoid of sentiments or prejudice.
"Look I know the way many of our coaches work with the national teams," Toro said.
"Many of them do things with sentiments and leave out many talented players. I want the Flying Eagles coach not to fall into the same pit-fall. He shouldn't select players for the AYC based on sentiments but he should rather go for the best players possible.
“He should also not pick players on the basis of his own interest but he picks them on form and talent," he added.
The Federal House of Representative member from Bauchi state went on to further advice that if all the players he needs are from one particular state then Uwua should pick them for the AYC.
"If he finds all the best legs he needs from one state or local government, then he should go ahead and pick them. He should totally take away sentiments and I believe he would achieve success at the AYC if he follows my advice," Toro told Nigeriansportsonline.com.
The Flying Eagles start their AYC title defence from January 20th in Brazaville, Congo and are grouped together with Zambia, Egypt and perennial rivals Cameroun in group B of the African tourney.
