NPFS set to reduce hunger by 2015

THE National Programme on Food Security is to reduce hunger in Nigeria by 2015, managing director of KatsinaAgricultural and Rural Development Authority (KTARDA), Alhaji Maikaila Ango has revealed.
Alhaji Maikaila spoke at the opening of one-day sensitization meeting with stakeholders on the expansion of National Programme for Food Security, held at conference hall of EEC/KTSG.
The managing director further said the programme will also meet the much needed household food security and create wealth for the teeming farmers.
He said the programme in Katsina was piloted in three local government areas of Mai’adua, Batagarawa and Malumfashi.
According to him, the programme was later expanded to cover six more local government areas of Kaita, Dutsin-Ma, Ingawa, Mani, Musawa, and Faskari.
Alhaji Maikaita revealed that the expansion followed the successful implementation of the programme.
Earlier, in his welcome address the director planning, Malam Bello Adamu Safana had said taht the meeting was organized for Kaita, Mani, Mai’adua and Batagarawa council while similar meeting will be organize for other council.
He said the meeting was convened to acquaint stakeholders with the concept irrigation to boost food production.
