Fadama project disburses N500m to communities
The National Fadama Development Programme has disbursed more than N500 million to various communities for project implementation in Niger State.
The state co-ordinator of the project, Alhaji Aliyu Kutigi, announced this at the week-end in Minna at the second merit award ceremony for Fadama II project stakeholders in the state.
Kutigi explained that the fund was expended on about 600 sub-projects scattered across the state.
He stated that the objective of the project was to sustain increase income for all users of Fadama resources, thereby reducing likely conflicts among them.
The project co-ordinator called for greater efforts and dedication on the part of all stakeholders to realise the desired goal.
Kutigi said the award ceremony was initiated last year to sustain the landmark which the state Fadama Development Office had made in project implementation.
According to him, the maiden award ceremony in 2005 was limited to the best three of the Fadama user's groups, Fadama Community Associations, Facilitators and Local desk officers.
He said that the 2006 award ceremony had the best three consultants providing services and working for communities and the state Fadama Development Office support staff.
