Reps to summon ambassador over Hajj
From Musa A. Tijjani, in Jeddah

Nigeria's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Ibrahim Kazaure, is to be summoned by the House of Representatives Sub-Committee on Hajj under the committee of Foreign Affairs for inability to ensure suitable accomodation for Nigerian pilgrims in the 2006/2007 Hajj exercise, particularly in Muna and Arafat.
Nigerian pilgrims at Muna for instance, were accommodated at places far away from the Jamrat, while at the Arafat, they were equally allocated tents at obscure locations which became very difficult for quite a number of pilgrims to locate.
This develoment resulted in many people missing at both sites of the Hajj rites.
Members of the Sub-Committee on Hajj who were in Makkah for oversight function, had expressed their displeaasure over what they described as "a disturbing scenario" and threatened to take up the matter with the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Nigeria as well as invite the Nigeria's Saudi Ambassador for explanation.
A member of the information Sub-committee of the Hajj Commitee, Hon. Isa Matori, told Hajj media team at the Nigeria Hajj Mission in Jeddah, at the weekend that the committee members were highly disappointed over the plight of the Nigerian lauded the Presidential Committee on Hajj (PCH), ``for the elaborate and successful airlift", of all Nigerian pilgrims to the Holyland and urged for a speedy homebound operation to ease the pilgrims' suffering as well as ensure their timely return home.
He also called on the PCH to in the future Hajj consider flying balloons with Nigerian colours as obtained in most countries at the country's tents in both Muna and Arafat for easier identification by pilgrims.
Matori further assured that the committee would explore all avenues which may include a tabling of a motion in the House to address the situation in order to make Nigerian pilgrims perform Hajj with greater ease.
Earlier, the Sub-Committee chairman, Hon. Sule Aliyu Bindawa, had noted with satisfaction, the performance of the PCH and urged them to exhibit similar feat in the return journey.
Responding, PCH information sub-committee chairman, Dr. Badmus Lanre Yusuf, informed the legislators that the committee is on its oars for the education and enlightenment of Nigerian pilgrims, adding that the sub-commitee has initiated a newsletter aimed at educating and guiding Nigerian pilgrims on the conduct of Hajj.
