Saunar Kawaji people commend KNSG on erosion control
By NASIRU MUHAMMAD

MALAM Sabi’u Shehu: I am happy about this erosion control work because it will enhance the development of the area. This is something that has been bedeviling our lives for more than 20 years and we had been calling on various past governments in the state to come to our aid and eradicate it, but thank God it has come during the tenure of Malam Ibrahim Shekarau. We thank him for achieving this feat.
I am sure this development will further make the area more lively as many people who have abandoned their lands will now claim it and develop it.
On this note we call on both the ministry of land and physical planning and the Kano state Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA), to ensure that any building that is erected here is constructed according to procedure, so that the area is not brought back to square zero.
I call on people that carry sand on the donkeys to desist from doing so in this area because they too contributed to this menace. The general public should also cooperate with the government through the ministry of environment so that the required success is achieved.
Malam Mukhtari Muhammad: I am 100 per cent happy with this job, because since I was born in this area I have never witness a developmental project like this before.
We pray that the Shekarau-led government achieves all it sets out for.
Malam Lawi Ahmad Muhammad: We don’t have any prayer for this government than to say Allah ya maimaita mana. We even asked our brothers that travelled to the Holyland to pray towards achieving that because that is the only thing we think we can give to the present government.
In the past when it rained we used to have a lot of problem, because it was not easy crossing over. That problem is mostly encountered by children and the elderly, but with this development, that menace will be a thing of the past.
I will like to call on the authority to complete the job before the rainy season sets in.
Malam Muhammad Awwal: I thank God for this job, because the government has constructed a big drainage that all the water that might be eroding our area will pass through and it is as well covering and leveling all the spot that was eroded by water.
Everybody you see in this area is discussing about this job. In fact it has become talk of the town.
Every Muslim must also rejoice at it even if he does not live here because it will improve the livelihood of everyone.
I pray to God to reward the government and everyone that contributes to the execution of this project.
In the past, some people used to mock at us and say our area is full of ditches and with this development that mockery will be a thing of the past.
I congratulate those who have plots here also, as they can now develop them at ease without having any fear of collapsed building.
In the past, people who wanted to come here used to pass through Dakata or ‘Yankaba and other routes, but I am sure now with this development they will simply come in without any problem.
At this juncture, I will like to call on the federal government to as quickly as possible, come in and help in this direction because I learnt that it is the Kano state government that is handling the job single-handedly.
