Councillorship aspirants support
Ririwai’s candidature

ASPIRANTS contesting for councillorship positions in all the 44
local government areas in Kano state converged on Saturday at
Gidan Akida to register their support to the candidature of
Alhaji Usman Sule Riruwai, Action Congress (AC) gubernatorial
flagbearer in the state.
The contesting councillors, whom stormed Gidan Akida, also AC
headquarters in Kano, in a forum which tied them together to pay
also Sallah homage to Alhaji Riruwai.
Receiving the contesting councillors on the platform of the
party, Alhaji Riruwai, who expressed delight on the visit and
described their forum as a welcome development.
He observed that councilors wherever they are, form the backbone
of political party, especially because they are closer to the
electorate.
According to him, if there is anybody to enjoy in any
government, it should be the councilors who are always at the
grassroots.
He appreciated the effort put by the contesting councilors in
the last primary elections conducted by the party in the state,
hoping that they would maintain the tempo in the forthcoming
secondary elections this year.
He said already plan is in the pipeline to map out strategies,
with a view to protecting voters at future elections.
While praying God to guide them in their service to humanity, he
promised to enhance the lives of people of the state in the
various sectors of human endeavour.
On his part, the running mate of Alhaji Riruwai, Alhaji Umar
Sanda Bayero Gano, urged members of the forum to try and
convince more people to join the party.
He again used the opportunity to send a strong massage to
politicians that they should shun campaign of calumny and
politics of bitterness, advising them never to curse any body in
the process of their campaign.
He informed the gathering that they do not see the contests as
do or die affairs, promising to accept whatever the condition of
the election is.
According to him, party and people of Kano state are their major
concern, calling on politicians to contribute their quota to
ensure the success of the party in the state.
In his closing remarks, the chairman of the forum, Alhaji Kabiru
described the contesting councillors as credible and believed
that councilors play a significant role in the development of
the society.
Gifts were presented to both the gubernatorial candidate and his
running mate by members of the forum.
