Impeachment saga: Security beefed up at Sokoto Assembly
Security men are currently keeping vigil at the Sokoto state House of Assembly premises.
The Speaker, Lawali Marghai and 19 other lawmakers of the DPP were billed to conduct a special sitting yesterday.
Ten ANPP members of the 30-member House on Dec. 30, announced the impeachment of Marghai and the 19 other lawmakers sequel to their defection to the DPP.
Marghai has dismissed the action as null, void and unconstitutional.
The House is currently on a recess which ends on the 29th of this month.
The 10 lawmakers had appointed former Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu, as the new speaker and Umar Hiliya as his deputy.
However, the deputy director, legal services who swore-in the new speaker and his deputy, had said that he did so under duress.
