INEC announces new package for workers
INDIPENDANT National Electoral Commission( INEC) has announced a new welfare package for its workers to ensure effective productivity during and after the election.
INEC Chairman Prof. Maurice Iwu announced this while addressing staff and resident electoral commissioners from the South East and South South zones on Saturday in Enugu.
He said the commission has introduced a new scheme of service for its workers.
Iwu explained that, INEC would pay a special duty allowance to staff who work throughout the public holidays.
He stressed that staff salaries would be paid regularly, in addition to promotion of all cadres who were due.
The chairman announced that the commission had already embarked on a programme to help workers to own houses, especially in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), adding that similar gesture would be extended to the states.
He told the workers that a staff training programme was on course, as an institute had commenced the programme and stressed that their welfare was assured.
He however advised them to shun corruption and rumour mongering.
