warns players
By ADO SALISU,
just back from Ado-EkitiWorried by the lacklustre performance of its team
in the opening match of the Premier League against Prime
Football Club Oshogbo, the management of Kano Pillars has
threatened to hold on the 50 per cent sign-on fees it promised
to pay the players if they do not wake up from their slumber.
The club chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Tukur Babangida who watched
helplessly as his team threw away vital chances to pack its
first away win against debutant Prime FC at Ado-Ekiti Stadium,
Ekiti state, said that unless players change their attitude, he
may be forced to renegade in his promise to pay them 50 per cent
of their 2007 sign-on fees this week.
Alhaji Babangida who believed that his player had what it takes
to out-play their host in the league opener, noting that the new
management has done its best within the shortest possible time
of assuming office, by settling all the outstanding debts owed
the players and hoping to pay them immediately the 50 per cent
of their 2007 sign-on fees.
"I told them in the first meeting that if there is no commitment
on the part of any of them, the management will not hesitate to
send out any of them, but I hope they pick from our next match,
for this smooth romance to continue.
“Prime FC played out our players and they indeed deserved to
win. Our players neither showed seriousness nor were they
committed and it was this that led to the loss”, he said.
He hoped that subsequent outings will be different from their
experience encountered at opening match of the season.
He acknowledged that the host played with zeal and zest unlike
his squad that was far from convincing in almost all segments
but assured that the team will pick up with proper focus and
little “handling”, he concluded.
