DPP guber candidate calls for sustenance of national unity
The Democratic People Party (DPP) gubernatorial candidate in Sokoto state, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, has stressed the need for Nigeria to remain a united as country.
``We have to sustain the current unity we have in Nigeria by all means,'' he said.
Dingyadi said this Tuesday, in Sokoto, when he was honoured by the Northern Patriotic Front.
He remindfed the citizens that God purposely created Nigeria as a multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic entity.
“Ours is a unity in diversity. The diverse nature of Nigeria and its citizens is supposed to further enhance our unity,'' he said.
Dingyadi stressed that the country experience will tangible socio-economic development, if peace and security sustained.
He however, stressed the need for the exploitation and utilisation of the country's abundant human and natural resources, saying: “This is the only way to make Nigeria the giant of Africa.”
Besides, he said that he was ``irrevocably committed to the unity, stability and development of the North and the entire country, in general.
“We must all ensure that the North remains the leading light in all areas of human endeavour,” he added.
Dingyadi said that he would use all “democratic means” to support the
North by paying priority attention to the people's living standards,
while mobilising and sensitising them to participate more meaningfully in all democratic processes.
He pledged to focus considerable attention to education, employment- generation, poverty-eradication, health, agriculture and water supply, if he became the governor of Sokoto state
