alliance on course -- Kumo
The alliance between ANPP and AC for the 2007 elections is on
course, the national secretary of the ANPP, Sen. Sa’idu Kaumo,
has said.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Abuja,
that nothing would distract the alliance.
“We met on Wednesday to review the progress of the MoU and
agreed to wait for AC’s presidential candidate, Vice President
Atiku Abubakar, to seal the deal,’’ he said.

Census: Speaker Gani hails

THE Speaker Kano state House of Assembly, Hon. Balarabe Sa’idu
Gani, has commended the state government, members of the state
Assembly, the state’s Census Committee, local government council
chairmen and people in the state, for their support to the
success of last year’s National Population and Housing Census,
which Kano emerged the most populous state in the country.
He made the commendation while addressing journalists on the
figures released by the NPC at his Sharada residence yesterday.
Gani explained that when compared with the 1991 census, the
population growth of the state has increased as a result of the
rise in number of people in the state.

Yar’adua
unfolds 7-point action to transform Nigeria
PDP’s presidential candidate, Gov. Umaru Yar’adua of Katsina,
said yesterday in Abuja that he would dialogue with Niger Delta
people on youth restiveness in the region.
Yar’adua who announced a seven-point action plan for his
administration if elected President, told newsmen that the
resolution of the Niger Delta crisis was part of a comprehensive
security plan of his regime.
“We will invest heavily on the resolution of Niger Delta crisis
as part of our security strategy, with focus on dialogue with
the people,” he said.

YSFON reminds KNSG

THE organisers of annual late General Murtala Ramat Muhammad
International soccer competition, Youth Sports Federation of
Nigeria (YSFON), has remainded Kano state government over the
letter submitted to the government to sponsor its 29th edition
of the competition.
The YSFON president Hon. J. T. Ojulare dropped this hint in a
telephone chat with Daily Triumph Sports yesterday.
