Thisday needs N500m to replace
burnt facilities
The chairman of Thisday Newspaper, Mr Nduka Obaigbana, has said
that about N500 million is required to rebuild the burnt floor
and replace facilities destroyed in Saturday night's inferno.
Obaigbana told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Lagos that
there were records that could not be replaced which he valued so
much.
He said within this week, reconstruction would begin on the
affected floors, adding that the fire did not affect news
production.
``No matter what happened, even if the building was bombed, we
will still come out with our news production the next day,'' he
said.
He, however, denied that the fire was caused by electrical
fault, saying that no electrical appliances were on at the floor
during the period, explaining that all the fire monitors in the
building never picked the fire signal.
NAN reports that prominent Nigerians and organisations have
continued their solidarity visits to the company.
Among callers include governors Bukola Saraki of Kwara and James
Ibori of Delta, Management staff from MTN, Guinness and Daar
Communications- owners of Raypower Radio and AIT.
