Pillars pip Kwara Utd

GAMBO Muhammad’s second goal was all what Kano Pillars Football
Club needed to collected the maximum three points against CAF
Cup campaigners Kwara Unted in the second week of the Premier
League played at Sani Abacha Stadium on Saturday.
The encounter attracted a larger turn-out of spectators included
the former NFA chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima and the state
commissioner of Police, Alhaji MD Abubakar, saw Pillars boys
took over control of the game with Jonathan Bitris, Jibrin
Yakubu, Gambo Muhammad and Murtala Muhammad but failed to score
an earlier goal.
In the 29th minute, Abidoye David openning scoring for the
visitors’ side, Kwara United, when his beautiful header beat
Pillars’ goalkeeper, Auwalu Abbas flatly.
The goal gingered Pillars boys to came back like wounded Lions
in search of equaliser, tormenting Kwara United defence at will
but poor finshing was their biggest undoing.
However, Jibrin Yakubu put smiles on the faces of Pillars’
supporters in the 42nd minutes when he levelled up with a header
off Gambo Muhammad’s pullout. It was 1-1 at the interval.
On resumption of the second half, both sides came back with more
determination to carry the day but no goal was produced. Both
sides made some changes to oil their attackers.
The much needed winning goal came in the 83rd minute through
Gambo Muhammad during a goalmouth scramble.
Efforts made by the home side to add more goals proved abortive
till the final whistle sounded.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Kano Pillars’ technical
adviser, Justine Tenger expressed satisfaction with the
performance of his boys, adding that the team is gradually
improving and very soon the club will get to the top.
