Plateau Utd assured of govt
support
Governor Michael Bot-mang of Plateau has assured the
state-funded team, Plateau United FC of Jos, of his government's
support.
Speaking in Jos when the players and management of the club
visited Government House, Bot-mang said the government would not
interfere in the day-to-day administration of the team and urged
them to work hard this season and gain promotion to the
Premiership.
The governor charged the players and technical crew to ``use
their legs and brains'' effectively to produce results.
He said only promotion would be acceptable to the government as
all necessary support had been provided for the club to excel.
The club's General Manager, Mr. Yakubu Taddy, disclosed that 40
players were on the club's pay roll, adding that 20 of them were
recruited for the current season.
Taddy said the players were recruited on their merit and added
that the services of a FIFA-licensed agent had been acquired for
the transfer of players to clubs abroad.
