Emir applauds ADC on choice of running-mate
The Emir of Biu in Borno state, Alhaji Umar Aliyu, has commended the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for picking one of his subjects, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman, as its presidential running mate.
He gave the commendation on Tuesday when the ADC presidential flagbearer, Prof. Pat Utomi, paid him a courtesy call.
Aliyu noted that the choice of Usman was a source of pride to his people.
``Usman is an illustrious son of the land and his choice by the ADC is most commendable,” he added.
The emir pledged to support all ADC candidates in the state.
Addressing the people of Biu and party faithful who thronged the emir's palace to welcome Usman, Utomi decried the acute water scarcity in the area.
``Driving through Maiduguri to a town as prominent as Biu, it saddens my heart to see people moving around with trucks in search of water,” he added.
Utomi promised that his government would complete the dam project that was started many years ago and abandoned in the area, to make water available to the people.
The presidential flagbearer was accommpanied by the party’s national Chairman, Chief Ralph Nwosu, ADC trustee, Mr Ladi Olajide and the party’s campaign adviser, Dr Jebb Young.
