No axe to grind with Gen Buhari
— Shekarau vanguard
By ABDULLAHI YAKUBU
IT has been observed that, the presidential flag bearer of the
All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari and
the governor of Kano state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau are twin
brothers, who can never be separated, despite all the
insinuations to fragment their relationship.
Making the observation, while answering quesion from some
journalists in the state capital last week, the chairman of
Shekarau United Political Vanguard Hon. Musa Inuwa Sale said,
the two respectable party leaders have never been strange- bed-
fellows.
He said, though there were several attempts to bring serious
division within the ranks and files of the ANPP in the state,
using the Buhari Organisation (TBO) intrigues have failed to
work.
“We have learnt that, evil machinators within the ANPP and even
outside the party, were bent on capitalizing on a recent
so-called ant-i Malam government, credited to General Muhammadu
Buhari to bring disunity in the ANPP, that will not deter
serious- minded members of the party from pursuing the genuine
cause“, he assured.
On the wild speculation going round that, the national body of
the ANPP may likely withdraw Malam Ibrahim Shekarau from the
contest and replace him with his deputy, Gala described such
rumour as baseless and unfounded.
He said, he would like to assure all and sundry that, no Jupiter
on earth would replace Malam Shekarau with anybody, since his
election at the primaries was clearly done on popular choice.
On whether he feared the replica of what had befallen Alhaji Ali
Amin Little, during 2003 ANPP primaries happening to governor
Shekarau,
He said, there was no relationship between what is being
speculated and the Ibrahim Ali Amin’s incident, adding that,
during that period, Little was identified as someone with
serious problems and given him the contest would mean creating a
vaccum for the PDP to take over.
Gala explained that, that was why the national headquarters of
the ANPP decided to give Malam Shekarau the chance, since he was
the only person with clean records and no one had the legal
ground to challenge him.
On the noises being made over the local government chairmen and
their tenure, Gala said the legislative arm of government had
done what it is supposed to do, by allowing the law to prevail.
He said the appointment of local government administrators to
man the affairs of the existing local government areas in the
state, was a clear indication that, there was no grudges in the
entire arrangement.
