Eguavoen dismisses Vogts snub reports
CHIEF Coach of the Super Eagles, Austin Eguavoen has dismissed media reports that following the insistence of newly contracted German Coach on his personal staff, the former International could be laid off by the NFA, hotsportslive.com can report.
"I am not bothered by such reports", said Eguavoen on his way to the Glass House in Abuja.
"When such an issue is made formal I will know how to react to it but for now, there is just nothing I can do. It doesn't bother me".
Eguavoen has led the Super Eagles to top the 2008 Nations Cup Qualifying Group 3, amassing maximum six points after edging Lesotho in Maseru last year.
But the Nigeria Football Association(NFA) has never kept it a secret their intention to hire a foreign boss for the former international popularly called "Cerezo" and on Monday announced the 1974 World Cup winner as Nigeria's gaffer.
Vogts, who will tinker the Super Eagles till 2010,is expected in Nigeria on January 30 to sign a formal contract with the FA. Thereafter, he will observe the February 6 clash between Nigeria and Ghana in London after which he will assume full control of the National team.
