Enugu electoral commission urges politicians to ensure successful elections
The chairman of the Enugu state Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), Chief Abel Nwobodo, has urged political parties to strive to ensure the success of the forthcoming elections.
Speaking while receiving executive members of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in Enugu , Nwobodo advised politicians to avoid thuggery and violence in their electioneering campaign.

``Politics is not a do-or-die affair; there must be a winner and a loser. So, politicians should learn to accept defeat as everybody cannot be a winner at the same time,'' he said.
Nwobodo, however, assured political parties that, the commission would provide a level playing ground during the localgovernment elections that would hold in March.
He commended NAWOJ for sensitising the various communities in the state on the need to participate in the political process, urging other organisations to emulate the association.
Besides, Nwobodo appealed to the people of the state to fully participate in the ongoing voter registration, saying that the voter's card remained the only instrument to vote-in credible leaders.
Earlier, the state chairperson of NAWOJ, Mrs Maureen Atuonwu, had solicited the support of ENSIEC in carrying out its voter education project, being undertaken in collaboration with the UK's Department for International Development (DFID).
She said that, NAWOJ had been mobilising various communities in the state to actively participate in the country's politicalprocesses, particularly the ongoing voter registration.
