INEC registers 1m voters Osun
INEC says, it has registered more than one million voters in Osun state.
The state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mallam Abubakar Ahmadu, who disclosed this at a stakeholders' meeting on Monday, said that the commission had also received a total of 859 registration machines.
Ahmadu, who had just been posted to Taraba state,pledged that INEC would be able to register all eligible voters in the state before the end of the exercise.
He, however advised the party leaders in the state to mobilise party members to get registered, during the remaining period of voter registration.
Ahmadu, nonetheless, warned against multiple registrations, saying that the names of those involved in such acts would be rejected during the final collation of the voter register.
He debunked most of the complaints about the ongoing voter registration, saying that, INEC had been transparent
in the handling of the exercise.
He dispelled the speculations that the commission had stopped the registration of voters in the state, saying that some disgruntled politicians were peddling the rumour.
Ahmadu, however, commended party leaders for their support and cooperation to the commission, pledging that a level playing ground would be provided for all political parties in the state during the general elections.
Meanwhile, the a PDP chieftain at the forum, Mr Funsho Ishola has praised INEC for its activities during the voter registration and expressed the hope that, the April elections would be free and fair.
