INEC releases timetable for
candidates' verification
INEC has released the timetable for the verification of the
particulars of the parties' gubernatorial and presidential
candidates.
The verification of governorship candidates would begin on Jan.
19 to Jan 21, while that of presidential candidates has been
fixed for January, 22 and January, 23 at INEC headquarters in
Abuja.
In a statement released by the Secretary of the commission,
Alhaji Abubakar Jauro, said that the exercise would hold between
11.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. and 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.
The governorship candidates of Accord Party, AA, ACD, ACPN, AD,
ADC, APLP and PRP would come for morning exercise, while NCP,
APN, APS, ARP, BNPP, CDC, CPN and CPP would attend the afternoon
session on January, 19. On January, 20, INEC would verify the
documents of the candidates of AC, DC, DPA, UDP, FRESH, DPP, HDP,
LDPN and JP, while those from LP, MDJ, MMN, MRDD, UNPP, NAC,
NAP, NP, APGA would be verified in the afternoon.
INEC would verify NDP, NEPP, NMDP, NNPP, NPC, NRP, NSDP, PDP
governorship candidates in the session on Jan. 21, as well as
those of PMP, NUP, PAC, PPA, PP, ANPP, PSP, RPN in the afternoon
session.
For the presidential candidates, ANPP, ACPN, ADC, CPP, APS, BNPP
would have their documents verified early on Monday, Jan. 22,
while PDP, MMN, HDP, FDP, NDP, RPN, NUP would have their turn in
the afternoon.
On Tuesday, January, 23, AC, DPP, NPC, PPA, APLP, AD, NMDP would
have their turn in the morning, while the documents of ND, NNPP,
NCP, PRP, PMP, NAC, APGA presidential candidates would be
verified in the afternoon.
``This exercise is for the purpose of verifying the documents
and information presented by the political parties. It is in the
best interest of candidates to avail themselves of the
opportunity to address issues raised in petitions against them''
