Okocha tops Eagles list Vs Ghana
Former Super Eagles captain, Austin Okocha, has made a dramatic return to the national team after he was named in coach Austin Eguavoen’s 21-man list ahead the February 6 international friendly against Black Stars of Ghana slated for London, reports Nigeriansportsonline.com.
Eguavoen was in Abuja Thursday to submit the list to NFA but refused to release the names to reporters.
But Nigeriansportsonline.com scooped that the former Bolton Wanderers of England ace, who was considered surplus to requirements by manager Sam Allardyce at the close of 2005/2006 season forcing the midfielder to move to Qatar Sports Club in Qatar, emerged top on the list of Eguavoen’s players for the London match.
Also on the list are Portsmouth forward, Nwankwo Kanu, John Utaka, Chidi Ordiah, Chinedu Ogbuke and John Obi Mikel.
Meanwhile, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, NFA board member and chairman technical Committee of the NFA told Nigeriansportsonline.com that the players who prosecuted the match against Ghana in London will form the nucleus of the Super Eagles that will face Uganda in March in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Abuja.
Also, the international department of NFA are making efforts to confirm from FIFA if Yakubu Aiyegbeni, who is serving a one-match ban could be fielded in the international friendly against Ghana.
