Shekarau tasks MSSN on founders’ legacies
KANO state governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has enjoined the state leadership of Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) to sustain the good precedents set by the founding fathers of the society.
Governor Shekarau made the call while receiving a delegation of the local organizing committee of the society’s 64th Islamic Vacation Course held recently in the state.
He said the founding members of the society particularly, Dr. Abdullateef Adegbite, the present secretary general of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, had made invaluable contributions which should be emulated to keep the society afloat.
The governor then commended the organizers of the Islamic Vocation Course for their commitment hoping that the spirit would be maintained.
Malam Shekarau also expressed the hope that participants at the course would put into practice what they learnt for a more organized Muslim Ummah.
Earlier, the chairman, local organizing committee of the Islamic Vocation Course who is also the state commissioner for environment, Alhaji Garba Yusuf Abubakar, had thanked the governor for his role in the success of the course. He later presented a progress report on the course to the governor.
Meanwhile, Governor Shekarau has held a closed door meeting with executive members of the state wing of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT).
