Bird flu curtailment: VOA,
BBG organize workshop

IN their efforts to enlightened and curtail the spread of avian
and pandemic influenza, the Voice of America (VOA), and its
parent agency, the Broadcast Board of Governors (BBG), are
organizing a workshop to journalists on the issue.
According to an invitation letter signed jointly by Joan Mower,
director, International Training Development Broadcasting Board
of Governors and Sunday Dare, Chief VOA Hausa Service, the
workshop will kick up on January 22 and ends on January 23, 2007
at the VOA reporting centre number A5, Tukur Road, Off Muktar
Muhammad Link Nassarawa, Kano.
Meanwhile, the occasion is also aimed at providing participants
with up-to-date accurate information, along with background
materials on avian and pandemic influenza.
During the workshop, participants will also look at what Nigeria
is doing to prevent the spread of bird and human flu, the
diseases’ social and economic implication and how the
international community fits into the picture.
Top Nigerian and US health and political experts, including an
official from the Centre for Disease Control in Atlanta,
Georgia, have been invited to address the participants.
Hotel reservations have been made for participants coming from
outside Kano at Nassarawa Guest House, Ibrahim Natsugune road,
Kano. The programme will begin at 8.30 am and luncheon will be
provided both days, along with transportation and accommodation
if needed. |
