Kebbi CP warns candidates against abusive language
The Kebbi state Police commissioner, Alhaji Ibrahim Machi, has threatened to take drastic actions against any party or candidate, found using abusive language or music during electioneering.
Machi gave the warning during his meeting with the leadership of the various political parties in Birnin Kebbi .
He stressed that no political rally should be organised without the approval of the police command, adding that any party that violated the directive would be sanctioned.
He also stated that two parties would never be allowed to hold political rallies in the same area on the same date to avoid clashes.
Machi, who frowned at the attitude of some politicians toward attending meeting summoned by the authorities, urged all the candidates to always abide
by the rules and regulations governing political campaigns.
Besides, he charged the candidates to educate their supporters on the need to refrain from any acts that could lead to chaos and a breakdown of law and order during rallies.
The commissioner expressed the command's readiness to ensure peace during the general elections and appealed to the people not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to cause mayhem during the elections.
