KNUPDA identifies 20 roads for
repairs, says MD
AFTER the dissolution of Kano state taskforce on metropolitan
roads repairs, the Kano state Urban Planning and Protection
Development Authority (KNUPDA), has expressed assurance to
take-over from where the taskforce has stopped.
Briefing Daily Triumph environment column in an exclusive
interview, the managing director of the authority, Alhaji
Al-Mustapha D. Inuwa, said at the moment they have identified
about 20 roads due for repairs within the state capital.
The repairs which will be done in phases, he said, include
Sultan road, Matan Fada, Dr. Bala Muhammad and France roads.
Others are: Tafawa Balewa by Murtala Muhammad Way, Tafawa Balewa
by Central Hotel, Dakata, Mundubawa Avenue, Aminu Kano Teaching
Hospital road, Bawo road, Sharada, Bawo, Court Road/Gyadi Gyadi
and Yahaya Gusau road.
The rest are: Kofar Na’isa, Durumin Iya, Dan’Agundi, Jakara
Yanmata roads, Zungeru and New roads among others.
The managing director stated that to adequately execute the job,
KNUPDA has divided its men into three groups to ensure that
three roads repair works are completed at the same day, stating
that they have the personnel and equipment to execute the job.
Alhaji Inuwa said they have since cut many spots where the
repairs will be conducted, stating that they are only waiting to
receive supply of asphalt from their supplier to commence work.
He called on the general public to desist from dumping refuse
indiscriminately on drainages because that leads to the blockage
of waterways, something that further allows water to float on
the roads which later spoils it.
He then commended the defunct taskforce which did a wonderful
job throughout the state and expressed assurance that KNUPDA
will be up and doing in seeing that roads in Kano metropolise
are motorable. |
