KNUPDA identifies 20 roads for repairs, says MD
AFTER the dissolution of Kano state taskforce on metropolitan roads repairs, the Kano state Urban Planning and Protection Development Authority (KNUPDA), has expressed assurance to take-over from where the taskforce has stopped.
Briefing Daily Triumph environment column in an exclusive interview, the managing director of the authority, Alhaji Al-Mustapha D. Inuwa, said at the moment they have identified about 20 roads due for repairs within the state capital.
The repairs which will be done in phases, he said, include Sultan road, Matan Fada, Dr. Bala Muhammad and France roads.
Others are: Tafawa Balewa by Murtala Muhammad Way, Tafawa Balewa by Central Hotel, Dakata, Mundubawa Avenue, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital road, Bawo road, Sharada, Bawo, Court Road/Gyadi Gyadi and Yahaya Gusau road.
The rest are: Kofar Na’isa, Durumin Iya, Dan’Agundi, Jakara Yanmata roads, Zungeru and New roads among others.
The managing director stated that to adequately execute the job, KNUPDA has divided its men into three groups to ensure that three roads repair works are completed at the same day, stating that they have the personnel and equipment to execute the job.
Alhaji Inuwa said they have since cut many spots where the repairs will be conducted, stating that they are only waiting to receive supply of asphalt from their supplier to commence work.
He called on the general public to desist from dumping refuse indiscriminately on drainages because that leads to the blockage of waterways, something that further allows water to float on the roads which later spoils it.
He then commended the defunct taskforce which did a wonderful job throughout the state and expressed assurance that KNUPDA will be up and doing in seeing that roads in Kano metropolise are motorable.
