Shekarau charges Muslims on mosque maintenance

GOVERNOR Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano state has called on Muslims in the state to ensure proper maintenance and full utilization of mosques constructed across the state.
The governor made the plea on Friday, during the commissioning of a Juma’at mosque at Kumbotso in Kumbotso local government area.
According to him, it is duty bound upon every Muslim to ensure that places of worship receive extra attention with a view to making the places attractive and conducive for proper worship.
He added that cleanliness and good maintenance of infrastructure are responsibilities of all Muslims while calling on the mosque committee to ensure its proper utilization.
Malam Shekarau then commended the Emir of Kano, Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Bayero, for his commitment to the development of Islam in the country.
On his part the Emir of Kano, Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Bayero expressed delight over the speedy process of the work, saying, the completion of the mosque within the stipulated time is an indication of the people’s desire to have the mosque for their worship.
The emir therefore thanked the Kano state government for its concern over the propagation of Islam in the state and beyond.
Dr. Bayero then called on Muslims particularly the well to do to complement the state government’s desire to develop Islamic education in the state.
Earlier, the sole administrator of Kumbotso local government area, Alhaji Garba Danyaro had told the gathering that the mosque was constructed at the cost of N18 million.
