120 tube wells under way- Ingawa council boss

INGAWA local government council in Katsina state is to construct 120 tube wells, chairman of the council, Alhaji Bala Sani Yaya has revealed.
Speaking while launching the sales of fertilizer to irrigation farmers, Alhaji Yaya explained that the construction of the tube wells is t boost irrigation activities.
He further explained that the tube wells are to be constructed this year and will complement effort of the irrigation farmers towards mass food production.
The chairman said that the council has purchased 500 water pumping machines for distribution to farmers on hire purchase, while insecticides were also distributed to irrigation farmers free of charge.
On fertilizer, Alhaji Yaya said the council has purchased 1,800 bags of fertilizer to be sold to farmers at affordable price.
Earlier, the director of agricultural department of the council, Alhaji Ahmad Idris had urged farmers to make good use of the fertilizer.
Alhaji Idris explained that the council is ready to provide all necessary farm implements to irrigation farmers in the area.
Responding, one of the irrigation farmers, Alhaji Sambo commended the council for its assistance.
