Kafur council to procure fertilizer worth N4m

KAFUR local government council in Katsina state has earmarked more than N4 million for the procurement of fertilizer this year.
The director, agriculture department of the council, Alhaji Gambo Radda told newsmen that the council has also procured seeds worth N5,000,000 to be distributed to irrigation farmers free of charge.
Alhaji Radda explained that the re-introduction of irrigation activities in the area has greatly assisted in reducing unemployment among youths and boost revenue for the farmers.
The director explained that the council will soon construct additional tube wells, saying last year, the council constructed 200 tube wells.
He further said that three irrigation sites were re-opened at Jari-Dutsin-Kura and Tibis to boost irrigation activities.
On Bee-keeping, Alhaji Radda said the council has provided 200 bee hives to be distributed to bee-keepers in the area.
He further said the council has trained Bee-keepers to face the modern challenges.
