Katsina forum to consider 1 out of 4 candidates for governorship

KATSINA forum is considering picking one of the four prominent politicians in the state as one of its consensus candidates for the governorship position in the 2007 election.
Among the prominent politicians penciled down and now being assessed by the forum include Speaker Aminu Bello Masari and Senator Habu Ibrahim.
Others include former Speaker of old Kaduna state, Barrister Abubakar Danmusa and Ambassador Magaji Muhammad.
Our correspondent in Katsina learnt that any- one of them selected for the position will contest on the platform of the ANPP and will be a consensus candidate for other parties to fight the PDP-led government in the state.
Sources told Daily Triumph that the forum, which comprises of elders of the state irrespective of political differences, is now holding meetings to achieve its objective.
According to the sources, the forum members have last time met in Kano to fine-tune its strategies on this ambition.
The source further explained that although all the four prominent politician are capable to vie for the positions. Speaker Masari will be favoured considering his influence and resources.
The source further said Speaker Masari, as aggrieved person who lost the PDP gubernatorial primary, could be accepted by the people of the state.
