Pension Trust Fund underway in
Kano…as Shekarau swears-in new SAs, perm secs

A NEW body responsible for handling pension affairs in Kano,
‘’Pension Trust Fund” is under way, the state governor, Malam
Ibrahim Shekarau, has disclosed.
The governor dropped the hint during the swearing-in of four new
special advisers and five permanent secretaries at Government
House yesterday.
According to the governor, a law has been passed by the state
House of Assembly that provides ground for merging of the state
pension board as well as local government staff pension board
into one commission.
He said the new body will have executive secretary and two
permanent commissioners as well as a permanent secretary as the
administrative head.
Turning to the appointments of the new officers, the governor
noted that they are done with a view to re-invigorating the
state civil service as well as boosting the morale of the civil
servants.
Malam Shekarau explained that the new appointees are expected to
lead by example and show commitment to their responsibilities
while urging them to maintain the confidence reposed on them.
Governor Shekarau further noted that with the appointment of the
permanent secretary in charge of ministry of higher education
that has concretized the government’s determination to create
the ministry.
The governor further disclosed that very soon a commissioner
would be appointed to oversee the ministry, adding that the
re-appointment of Dr. Bashir Shehu Galadanchi as special adviser
is a clear indication of appreciation of the services he
rendered to the government.
The special advisers sworn-in include Farooq Hassan, S.A. food
security; Alhaji Sabo Tafida S.A. special duties; Dr. Bashir
Shehu Galadanchi, S.A. education and information technology
as well as Engineer Abdullahi Tijjani, S.A. special duties.
The five permanent secretaries sworn-in are, Dahiru Ahmad Bichi,
ministry of rural development; Garba Aliyu Gezawa, permanent
secretary new Pension Trust Fund Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim
Kankarofi, special services and council affairs; Dr. Adamu
Turaki, new ministry for higher education and Alhaji Abubakar
Ibrahim Matawalle state Civil Service Commission.
