The DPP governorship candidate in Sokoto state, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, has pledged to consolidate on the gains of the Bafarawa administration, if elected the state governor in the April elections.
Dingyadi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) today in Sokoto that his pledge was hinged on the need to enhance the state’s socio-economic transformation.
He noted that the Bafarawa administration had succeeded in improving the lot of the people through innovative capital projects in the state.
He stressed that the people of the state were already enjoying the dividends of democracy as policies and programmes that had direct bearing on the people were being implemented.
On his programmes, Dingyadi said that a blue-print had been fashioned out for the provision of adequate teaching materials for the state’s primary and secondary schools, as part of the measures to revamp the education sector.
He said that tangible emphasis would also be placed on teachers’ welfare as an incentive to boost teachers’ morale.
He also underscored teachers’ training and re-training as part of measures that would taken to upgrade the teachers’ skills.
“The only legacy we can give to our future generation is sound education and we are particularly determined to promote education in our state,’’ he said.
Dingyadi, however, called for the people’s support in the forthcoming elections so as to make this aspiration a reality.
