From MU’AWUYA B. IDRIS, Katsina
PEOPLE Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina state has expelled one
of the founding members of the party and member, Board of
Trustee, Alhaji Iro Abubakar Danmusa.
He was expelled by Danmusa ward ‘A’ of the party for anti-party
activities and which was later ratified by the state chapter of
the party.
Alhaji Danmusa is currently chairman board of directors of
Nigerian Agricultural and Cooperative Bank (NACB) and former
campaign director of Governor Victor Attah, during last PDP’s
presidential primaries.
His expulsion from the party was allegedly based on his role
towards de-campaigning Governor Yar’adua presidential ambition
and rejecting the outcome of the party’s presidential primary
election.
The officials of the party also alleged that Alhaji Danmusa, as
a member Board of Trustees of the party has declared his support
for General Buhari, which contradicts the party’s constitution.
Addressing an emergency press conference in Katsina on Friday,
chairman of PDP in the state, Alhaji Kabir Maiwada Dandawa
described the action of Alhaji Danmusa as unfortunate, adding
that the party finds it necessary to expel him to serve as a
punishment for his actions.
Alhaji Dandawa cited examples of some publications in some of
newspaper, which Danmusa openly de-campaigned Alhaji Yar’adua’s
presidential ambition, in an attempt to create confusion within
PDP.
He explained that a committee was set up by the officials of
Danmusa ward ‘A’ to investigate all the allegations against
Alhaji Danmusa, saying the allegation against him was found to
be true.
Alhaji Dandawa explained further that, Alhaji Danmusa was
invited by the committee for several times but refused to appear
before the committee.
He said, the party at the state level would write a letter to
the headquarters of the party to notify
the expulsion of Alhaji Danmusa from the party.
Reacting on his expulsion, Alhaji Danmusa described the action
of the party as joke, saying only the party national
headquarters has the right to expel him.
Alhaji Danmusa explained that, he would wait to receive the
letter of his expulsion, after which he said he would reply the
party.
