‘Atiku spends no kobo meant for North’
The Atiku Campaign Organisation has debunked the allegation leved against the Vice president that he converted the money meant for the development of the North to the consruction of ABTI University saying that this is nothing but renewed efforts of the presidency to distract Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign with frivolous and baseless allegations.
The presidency’s spokesperson, Uba Sani, was quoted to have said that the vice president “impoverished the North by diverting funds meant for its development to build his ABTI empire.”
The campaign organisation explained that “We presume that these funds were budgeted by the federal government, appropriated by the National Assembly, and then released to the vice president for the development of ‘The North.’
“Or, perhaps the funds are federal allocations to the 19 Northern States which the governors may have met in secret conclave and decided to donate to Atiku Abubakar to build the university?
The presidency, they added should tell Nigerians which ministry or parastatal Atiku Abubakar has headed as a Chief Executive since 1999 when he was first elected alongside President Olusegun Obasanjo.
After three and half years of elaborate criminal investigation spanning all corners of Nigeria and all corners of the globe, the campaign office said, it is instructive that the only thing EFCC found on Atiku was that he authorized an agency under his supervision to place idle funds in a bank to yield interest.
