Bugaje rebukes PDP chairman for
attacking VP
From KABIRU YUSUF, Abuja
THE Deputy Director General of the Atiku Campaign Organization,
Dr. Usman Bugaje, has accused Colonel Ahmadu Ali, chairman,
People’s Democratic Party (PDP), of amnesia, for launching an
attack on Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday.
Ahmadu Ali had called Atiku a “dictator” and accused him of
abandoning the PDP because of his opposition to the reforms of
the federal government.
Atiku asked Nigerians last Saturday to fight the nation’s slide
into dictatorship, while addressing associates and supporters
who gave him a tumultuous welcome and several kilometres long
motorcade escort from the Abuja airport to his residence.
Dr Bugaje, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on
Foreign Affairs reminded the Colonel how he (Ali) described the
PDP as a “garrison” which is obviously run in a regimental
fashion.
The lawmaker, who is the gubernatorial candidate of the Action
Congress (AC), in Katsina state, said Atiku initiated the
current reforms of the federal government while he was political
adviser to the Vice President.
He added that the Obasanjo hijacked the reforms programme and
handed it over to some aides, some of whom have proved to be
incompetent and mismanaged it, depriving Nigerians of the
intended benefits, leaving them only with the pain.
“Where was Ali when Atiku was initiating the reforms?”, he
asked. “Hanging around the villa, looking for a job”, Bugaje
retorted. “Now he has got a command, he has been playing the
role of the surrogate so well”, Bugaje concluded.
