Voters’ card must for salary, Zamfara workers told
From ABBA ABUBAKAR KABARA, Gusau

All categories of civil and public servants in Zamfara state will not get their January salaries unless they get their voter registration cards for the forthcoming general elections.
The warning was made public at the weekend by the Governor Ahmed Sani soon after the conclusion of state ANPP’s stakeholders meeting organized in preparation for the forthcoming general elections.
The governor expressed deep detest over the attitude of some people who are indifferent about the importance of the registration exercise which forms the significant aspect of both developed and developing democracies.
Alhaji Sani also disclosed that the order extends to all peasant farmers who will be denied the privilege of fertilizer this year and all other citizens of the state may not enjoy government facilities in the event they deliberately refuse to get themselves registered.
The governor further explained that government has attached great importance to the issue of registration to the extent of declaring a three-day work free period to give the public enough time to get registered yet people were still less concerned.
In another development, the governor has announced major changes and new strate      gies the state ANPP stakeholders adopted for the forthcoming governorship and other elections in the state.
In the new arrangement, he said, “ I will lead the campaign for all the elections” while the state chairman of the party will serve as the co-ordinator, urging every member of the party in the state to as from the moment stand firm and have an unshaken resolve to work hard towards the victory of the party in all elections, come 2007.
