Amun says Galadima better leader...
Regrets being party to his removal
The leadership of the National Sports Commission, NSC, have
recalled the outgoing Secretary General of Nigeria Football
Association, NFA, Fanny Amun, Nigeriansportsonline.com reports.
Amun’s recall may not be unconnected with the sordid drama that
played up at the NFA secretariat, Abuja Monday when the man who
led the Golden Eaglets to Japan in 1993 to win the FIFA U-17
World Cup blatantly refused to hand over to the new NFA scribe,
Bolaji Ojo-Oba.
Amun pocketed the secretariat’s key, insisting that due process
was not followed in Ojo-Oba’s appointment, adding that the
Federal Character Commission had written to him, suspending the
appointments, claiming that it did not reflect the federal
character.
“I have the letter here with me,” Amun sounded, brandishing the
letter.
“They even demanded that I should appear before them but I chose
not to go for some reasons,” the man called ‘transformer’ said.
Amun was furious that despite his role in the process of
removing the former NFA boss, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, Amun said
he was incredibly treated, saying it was a grand plan to edge
him out.
“Let’s face the fact, what did Galadima do to merit his ouster?”
He queried.
“Now those of us who helped in his removal are being maligned.”
Nigeriansportsonline . com tried to reach NFA chairman, Alhaji
Sani Lulu Abdullahi in the face of the unfolding drama.
But his Personal Assistant, Tunde Adedegbigbe who responded to
our call on Tuesday said Lulu was in a meeting, adding that
Fanny Amun has been recalled by the Sports Ministry (National
Sports Commission).
“I think what happened yesterday (Monday) has been taken care of
because the Ministry has recalled him (Fanny Amun),” the FA
chairman’s aide declared.
“As I am speaking with you, Bolaji Ojo-Oba has assumed office.
Yes, (Fanny) Amun has not returned the office keys but NFA are
in a meeting and Ojo-Oba is right there.”
Nigeriansportsonline. com gathered that the Tuesday meeting was
to take a far reaching look at the recent developments in the
house of football.
Such include ratification of appointments of Super Eagles new
coach, Berti Vogts, Bolaji Ojo-Oba as new NFA scribe as well as
Flying Eagles, Golden Eaglets participation in the African Youth
Championship and the impending Nigeria versus Uganda Ghana 2008
African Cup of Nations qualifier billed for MKO Abiola stadium,
Abeokuta on March 24.
Super Eagles international friendly against Ghana slated for
London on February 6, was also part of NFA’s parley on Tuesday.
