Lorry crushes 2 to death in Lagos
Two commuters died in an early morning accident in Lagos when a lorry ran into waiting passengers at the Cele bus stop on the Apapa/Oshodi expressway.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that according to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred because the lorry driver lost control, also left three other commuters injured.
NAN learnt that the lorry vehicle, with registration number XA 889 SMK, was heading toward Mile 2 from Oshodi when the accident occurred.
As at 8 a.m. today when a NAN correspondent left the scene of the accident, the bodies of the two victims, both male, have yet to be evacuated, but the injured were rushed to hospital by sympathisers.
The lorry also hit an Audi saloon car with registration number JT 458 AA, but the occupants of the car were not injured.
``We just came out of the Okota diversion into the expressway on our way to work.
Suddenly, we heard a bang from the rear.
``And before we knew what was happening, the lorry had pushed us into the expressway,'' the driver of the damaged car, who chose to remain anonymous, told NAN.
The accident resulted into traffic congestion on the ever busy expressway.
