  Adamawa governor-elect cautions against violence
Adamawa governor-elect Murtala Nyako has cautioned opposition parties against staging violent protests in the state.
Nyako told newsmen Tuesday in Yola that, while the aggrieved candidates were free to demonstrate, those who believe in the credibility of the election also have the right to express their feelings.
He stressed the need for peaceful conduct of protests, urging the opposition to adopt acceptable means of resolving issues.
Rolling out his government's plan for improved agricultural production, economic empowerment and infrastructure development, Nyako pledged to exploit the agricultural potential of the state to generate wealth for the people.
He explained that government would invest heavily in the agricultural sector of the economy not only for increased food production, but for higher revenue generation.
In the area of road construction, the governor-elect expressed his desire to collaborate with the federal government for quick rehabilitation of federal roads, especially the Yola-Gombe road, which had claimed several lives.
He also promised to reconstruct rural roads and open up rural areas through motorable roads.
According him, functional education would be facilitated to equip youths with necessary skills for self reliance.
Expressing dismay with the level of maternal mortality and morbidity rate in the country, Nyako said his administration would ensure improved healthcare delivery at all levels.
He renewed his resolve to control the spread of HIV/AIDS disease in the state, adding that his government would seek the cooperation of international donor agencies.
