Batsari council distributes N4.8m fertilizer

BATSARI local government council in Katsina state has distributed fertilizer worth more than N4.8 million to irrigation farmers in the area at a subsidized price.
The commodity was distributed to the beneficiaries from across the 11 political wards of the local government.
Vice-chairman of the council Alhaji Murnai Sayyadi Rumah, while launching the sales of the commodity, said each bag will be sold at N1, 500 only.
Alhaji Rumah, who represented the council chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Bala Batsari said the gesture was part of the council’s effort to assist irrigation farmers to boost their production.
He enjoined the beneficiaries to use the commodity for irrigation to achieve the desired success.
Alhaji Mustapha noted that the revival of irrigation in the area has constructed immensely in reducing migration of people from rural to urban areas.
The chairman reaffirmed the determination of the council to continue with the provision of rural infrastructure as well as support to the agricultural sector to improve the well-being of its people.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malam Tijjani Dadin Kowa commended the council for the gesture and assured of their support.
